Buttercups, as defined by Luke

We finished The Long Winter this morning and started in on Little Town on the Prairie at nap time today. Laura and Mary were taking a long walk across the spring prairie, enjoying the wildflowers when they came across some buttercups.

"Luke," I asked, "do you remember what buttercups look like?" (We have buttercups growing in one of our front beds)

"Yes, mom, they are round and chocolate and have peanut butter inside them."

I guess that kind of buttercups are a little more memorable than the flowers when you're an almost four year old.

I really love being this child's mother.
