Irony

When Luke was an infant and fit into the very portable infant seat he NEVER fell asleep in the car. I even had the "travel system" where the infant seat fits into the stroller so you never have to wake a sleeping baby to transport them. I don't know if I ever used this feature. When he fit into the infant seat he hated the car so much that he never stopped screaming long enough to let the movement lull him to sleep.

Well, now that Luke is in the huge carseat that latches in the car and is 600 pounds he often falls asleep in the car. For a while he would transfer from the car to his bed easily. Lately, he has been waking up when you unbuckle him. So this is what we have resorted to. Nat carries the huge child and huge carseat into his room and we get ready for bed and then transfer him from the seat to his bed once he is in a state of deep sleep and the trip is shorter.

Still, there is something so angelic about that sleeping boy isn't there?

Are we going to your park, Marisha?

As usual, we had a lovely visit at the park near our house. Marisha's park, as Luke calls it. It was a crip fall-in-the-Midwest day and we were all very impressed with Luke's "parking" skills.

See you soon Nader, Sally, Lightening!

Marisha's first posting

Hi Donanldsons!!! This is Marisha. I am so pleased to have been invitied to your blog. This is so much fun. I love to see everybody in the photos. Emily, your kids are amazing and I cannot wait to see you in October. And Ashley, your husband is very handsome, congratulations. And Meg and Lee haven't aged a day. I haven't looked through all the archives yet and I can't wait to do so.

So yes I have conceived and birthed myself a little Sofi. Her name is Sofia Bernadette Prokop and she is a truly angel. I keep waiting for little white fluffy wings to sprout. Carrie and Luke came to visit and we had a lovely time. As you can imagine, Lucy is the proudest Gramma ever.

The Fredins are coming 'round for a vist next week, complete with Nat, so I'll be sure to post again with more fabulous fotos. Hopefully by that time I'll have figured out how to get these darned photos where I want them. Till then!

bathing in the kitchen sink

I have vivid memories of Spencer and Ashley bathing in the sink when they were infants. But, I am not sure that they ever bathed in the sink when they were 2 and a half.

These are pictures from Saturday morning at our house. The reason that Luke had to take a bath in the sink is a little funny. I got up on Saturday and looked at the caulk in the bathtub. It has needed to be replaced for a while and it was looking a little dirty. I thought to myself, "We could either bleach the caulk or replace it." So, we opted to replace it. Nat got right to work and replaced the caulk. After he was all finished he looked at the package to see how long it needed to dry-- 24 hours! Who knew that caulk took so long to dry. Well, the three dirty people at this house sure didn't or we would have showered before the project. The way that it worked out is that I skipped a day, Nat took at shower at the Y, and Luke bathed in the sink. Luke loved it though, he wanted to take another sink bath after dinner.

Luke's MP3 player

Luke gets up every morning and goes to his toy box to take out his legos. He loves to play with them. I guess that Nat was a big lego man as well (I shouldn't say was-- he plays with them just as much as Luke).

The other day Luke was quiet in his room for a long time and so Nat and I went in to check on him and this is what he had created. He said, "It's my MP3 player." It sound more like "empty tree player" when he says it though. The funny thing is that Nat and I don't own an MP3 player and the only person that he has ever really seen with one is Spencer back in March when we went to Utah. It apparently left a deep impression.

Luke's first movie

We took Luke to see Cars yesterday afternoon. Tickets were only $2.50 (the dollar theater is on the other side of town, and the first show there wasn't until 5 PM), and there were only four other people in the theater. He was a little scared at first--not by the content of the movie but because they set the volume to "ear-splitting" in theaters these days. Otherwise, he was pretty okay. But he said several times that he was "really, really angry" during a part of the movie in which the star Lightning McQueen was off-screen for an extended time.

This morning Luke decided that he was "Li-ting the Queen" and I was his friend Mater. I tried to get him dressed in a Cubs T-shirt, but he told me, "No, I'm not blue! I am a RED RACE CAR!" I had to go fish his only red shirt out of the dirty laundry so he could "drive" around the house.

Tall Man in a Little House

Hey everyone long time no post. So, i had to put up these pictures of Dad in our tiny apartment. For those of you that don't know, our apartment is ridiculous. Caleb has to duck under a vent, but other than that, he can stand up perfectly fine. obviously it's not the case with Dad. he was slouching the whole time. Here he is standing in our bedroom, behind the said vent. (Notice Eliza is standing there for a comparison.)

And here he is pushing the ceiling up with his head. Anyway, i just thought it was really funny.

Is it wake up time?

They say that waking up is hard to do...

Here are some images of what waking up from a nap looks like at our house. The scene plays out the same way almost every day. I hear Luke's bare feet hit the hardwood floor in his room and slap, slap, slap he makes his way to open the door. He then stands in the hall looking dazed for a few minutes while his eyes adjust to the light. He almost always emerges with his sippy cup and his blanket-- his two naptime staples. He then wanders into whatever room in the house I am in and lays on the floor, couch, or my bed while he finishes waking up. I love this post-nap snuggle time.

Luke's new do

While we were in New Lenox this weekend Courtney cut Luke's hair. He was an angel during the hair cut. He looks great. But, he looks like a such a big boy now. I guess that a big brother needs a big boy hair cut...

Love you all
