Fourth of July Fun

Greetings from the end of a wonderful fourth of July! As I am writing I can hear the end of the fireworks going off. The boys are sound asleep and Nat and I have some time together-- it's been a good one.

We started off the day with a ward breakfast of blueberry pancakes and fresh fruit and then headed off to our neighborhood celebration.

There was a parade through the 'hood to the park.

Luke rode in his wagon with his girlfriend , Emily. They were content to sit in the wagon and watch the other participants. There weren't very many people watching the parade because I think the entire neighborhood was in it.

Jackson opted for his father's shoulders.

Tal rode his rocket bike.

Aren't they edible?

Then we arrived at the park for games and sometimes foods. The celebration had a wonderful small town feel. We kept running into neighbors and friends. Isn't this what community is all about?

As soon as we arrived at the park Luke announced that he was starving for a sometimes food. Nat thought it was time Luke was introduced to the world of bomb pops. Look at the blue juice dripping down his arm.

All the games were very cute, simple and run by the neighborhood kids.

There were balloon animals and Luke decided that he wanted an orange giraffe. Tal and Jackson both asked for blue T-Rexes.

Luke won the cake walk. He was thrilled and picked out chocolate cupcakes which he ate before we headed home for naps.

Nat and I had a wonderfully productive nap time and then headed over to enjoy a fourth of July BBQ with good friends.

Here, the boys enjoyed some always foods.

Luke had ten slices of watermelon (I am not exaggerating-- ten slices!).

Hope your fourth was just as lovely!
