Our Prophet Dear

Last night Nat was laying down with Luke when Ashley called to inform us that President Hinckley had passed away. I whispered to Nat that the Prophet had died. Luke sat up in bed and asked, "Did Gordon B. Hinckley die?" When we answered yes he proceeded to cry loudly for well over an hour until we calmed him down by reading conference talks and looking at pictures from his life. He finally fell asleep listening to President Hinckley's last conference address. Looking back, I probably should have waited until morning to mention it to him. But, there was something very sweet about his grief. He loved his prophet and now he is gone. When Luke got up this morning one of the first things he asked was, "Will Gordon B. Hinckley be resurrected?" What a comfort it was to answer that yes, without a doubt, there will be a resurrection.

Just one tall girl named Laurel said...

'This church has grown into a great worldwide organization affecting for good the lives of people in more than 140 nations,' Hinckley told The New York Times in 1995.

'You can't, you don't, build out of pessimism or cynicism. You look with optimism, work with faith, and things happen.'"

97 years was a pretty good run.
